Statement of Purpose
The Peacebuilders Initiative Website provides a place for youth and adults to learn and talk about peacebuilding and social justice issues. The content on this site is created to explore relevant, timely issues and provoke thought about the challenges and triumphs of real-world peacebuilding. It is not intended to be political commentary or critique. Visitors are encouraged to respond to the content, offer opinions, and engage in respectful dialogue on the discussion boards.
Our goals are:
To teach the fundamentals of peacebuilding, while being respectful of the diversity of views we may have on political issues.
To raise up positive images of peacebuilding and people serving as peacebuilders, so as to provide role models and inspiration for visitors to our site.
To promote a hopeful tone in our presentation of peace and justice issues, while acknowledging the challenges that come with working for peace.
To communicate the teachings and message of the Catholic church, and Cardinal Joseph Bernardin especially, as a framework for building peace in our world.
