A Few Words From Edith
Edith Galvez, 2004
My parents always have told me to fight for what I believe in. As a young teenager I have tried my best to accomplish some of my goals. When Mr. Jay Dillon told me about a program named Peacebuilders Initiative, he told me that it was something I should look into. I did and I realized how much I could do if I where to join. Peacebuilders was just a little push to keep my believes going.
Since I was a kid I wanted to work with little kids, I want to be a teacher one day. I always wanted to volunteer in my community working with little kids but no one really pushed me to do so. I could honestly say as a teenager being a teen is hard. And the neighborhood where I go to school it's full of street violence around. I always believed that our kids are the next generation, which in all cases is true. If you think about it if a kid is our next generation than what do we have coming for ourselves if they are surrounded by street violence. So I decided I want to work with little kids when I get old; so I could influence them in the right path, but when I went to Peace Builders they opened my eyes and told me why wait to you are older start now.
When I went to Peacebuilders I realized that I should start working in what I believe in sitting in three-hour theological sessions wasn't easy but I learned so much from them. Starting with creating peace in yourself to creating peace in your community. Peacebuilders is a little push that helps us advance our believes in creating peace in ourselves and community.
