Classroom Activities

March: Lent

Our classroom activities this month explore the meaning of Lent, and offer ways to honor the season through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
"The life and words of Jesus and the teaching of his Church call us to serve those in need and to work actively for social and economic justice. As a community of believers, we know that our faith is tested by the quality of justice among us, that we can best measure our life together by how the poor and the vulnerable are treated."
-- Economic Justice for All: Pastoral Letter on Catholic Social Teaching and the U.S. Economy (U. S. Catholic Bishops, 1986)
"Accordingly, peace is also the fruit of love, for love goes beyond what justice can achieve." -- Gaudium et spes: The Church in the Modern World (Second Vatican Council, 1965)
-- Gaudium et spes, the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, Second Vatican Council (1965)
